Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO, has launched the new Creative Economy Report 2013 on the 14th November 2013.
The United Nations Creative Economy Report 2013, Special Edition, which UNESCO is co-publishing with the United Nations Development Programme, will focus on creative economy at the local level in developing countries. The Report will analyze and showcase policy and practice, trends and cases drawn from developing countries. The results of the Report will inform international debates on the post-2015 UN development agenda and the role of culture in sustainable development. More particularly, it will speak to decision-makers, demonstrating some of the key factors that make creative economy initiatives successful on the ground.

The Theatre and Movie House, ‘AKT’ the carrier of the ITI Centre foundation in Kosovo, has been awarded the annual prize from the Kosovo Ministry of Culture, for “Most successful International Presentation of the Kosovo Performing Arts”. In the competition have been not only the cultural non government organizations, but other government organizations and institutions, like the National Theatre of the Republic of Kosovo, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and other individuals.

ArtsLink Awards 2014: Grant Opportunities for Artists & Arts Managers from eligible countries
CEC ArtsLink invites artists and arts managers in all disciplines from 37 eligible countries to apply for Independent Projects Awards.
Project grants enable artists and arts managers from the eligible countries to carry out self-directed projects in the US. Applicants must have a letter of invitation from a non-profit organization or individual in the US to apply.
Submission deadline: December 3, 2013 for projects taking place between May 1, 2014 and April 30, 2015.

Open Call for Plays, within the international project Walls_Separate Worlds
WALLS_SEPARATE WORLDS is an international project promoted by Eufonia-Astràgali Teatro (Italy-Lecce), with the support of the European Union “Culture Programme 2007-2013”.
Within the activities of Walls_Separate Worlds, planned for 2013-2014, Astràgali Teatro, Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute and the ITI Directorate General in Paris are inviting playwrights from Greece, Turkey or Cyprus to submit original and un-produced plays, of a maximum duration of 10-12 minutes, about the topic proposed by the project. The artistic activities of the project Walls_Separate Worlds have a social value and aim to develop and enhance practices of mutual knowledge among people and artists living under
conflict conditions, in order to elaborate the conflict (visible and invisible) through the art and the practices related to theatre.

International Call for experiment proposals for RAPP 2014-Research in Artistic Programme, Aarhus, Denmark
RAPP is LABORATORIETs new experiment programme open to all performing arts professionals. The purpose of RAPP is to produce knowledge, skills and artistic development through practical experiments. To encourage leaps into the unknown, impossible endeavours and searches for new horizons.

10-20 décembre 2013, Mpumelelo Paul Grootboom, Grande Halle de la Villette, Paris, France
Après le choc de Foreplay en 2010, la Villette réinvite le metteur en scène sud-africain Mpumelelo Paul Grootboom pour présenter deux fresques sociales qui auscultent les lignes de fractures de l’Afrique du Sud contemporaine.
Township Stories (10-14 décembre) est un thriller dans lequel se succèdent des récits de la vie quotidienne dans les bidonvilles sud-africains post-apartheid.
Dans Rhetorical (17-20 décembre), Mpumelelo Paul Grootboom tente de transcrire la voix de la jeune génération sud-africaine à travers la verve et l’audace d’un jeune politicien nommé Dada Mokone. Un questionnement sur le passé et le présent d’un pays qui voit ressurgir ses vieux démons.

5-29 January 2014, The Judgement (workshop), Budapest, Hungary
A 3 week workshop for 10 artists (actors, dancers, video makers, photographers…) of the performing arts group DIVANO OCCIDENTALE ORIENTALE, led by Giuseppe L. Bonifati (Italy, director in residence at Odin Teatret) and Alberto M. Guinaldo (Spain, actor in residence at Odin Teatret).
Language: The workshop will be conducted in English. Giuseppe L. Bonifati and Alberto M. Guinaldo can also communicate with the participants in Italian, Spanish and French.
The workshop will develop a multidisciplinary art project, which started in 2013 in Budapest, led by Giuseppe L. Bonifati/DOO. It is open to a limited number of participants, performers, dancers, musicians, video makers, photographers, who are interested in meeting Divano Occidentale Orientale. In particular the workshop welcomes applications from Denmark and Nordic countries.

ACAR signed letter of protest by Writers-In-Prison against licence withdrawl of Belarus publisher
The Belarus Minister of Information has withdrawn publisher Ihar Lohvinau’s license for publishing activities. According to a press release of the Belarusian Association of Journalists the matter deals with publishing of the Belarus press Photo 2011 photo album which had been recognized extremist. The German PEN / Writers-In-Prison published an open letter of solidarity to the Minister of Information.

Embros Theatre (Athens): society and culture under threat in Greece
On the 11th of November 2011 Mavili Collective, a small group of artists and theorists, occupied the historical disused theatre building of Embros in Athens, deserted and left empty for years by the Greek Ministry of Culture. After several attacks and closures by the Greek state Empros Theater still remains open and active two years later. In September 2013, EMBROS was once again forcibly closed. Threatened with closure and in solidarity with two actors recently arrested during rehearsals in the space EMBROS needs international support.
